Dear neighbor,
Over the next several days, temperatures are expected to hit the mid-90s, with the potential for heat indices to rise into the high 90s. In light of this extreme heat, cooling centers will open across the state to provide a haven for those who need a safe place to keep cool.
Indiana 211, a division of the State of Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), is a free service that connects Hoosiers with resources in their local communities. Click here to view a complete list of cooling station locations and their hours of operation. Hoosiers can also call 2-1-1 or 866-211-9966 to find their nearest cooling center.
I encourage all of you to be prepared and take precautions during this heat wave. Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities and remain inside where it is air conditioned as much as possible (especially seniors or those with heart and respiratory conditions). If you do have to go outdoors, wear sunscreen and loose-fitting clothes. Make sure that you DO NOT leave children or pets unintended in cars.
In service,
Kyle Miller
